(AmericanProsperity.com) – North Carolina is usually a Republican leaning state, but Kamala Harris’ visit to Charlotte, North Carolina could potentially change the game.
Landon Simonini was waiting in traffic as it was stopped to allow Harris’ motorcade through for the rally. He spoke out about the state and how he‘s lived in Charlotte for over thirty years and isn’t sure about how his state will vote in this upcoming election..
“This is a traditionally southern state,” Simonini said. “Over one hundred people move to Charlotte a day. That is changing the election map. I am born and raised in Charlotte, for thirty-three years. I have lived here my entire life. I went to school at UNC Charlotte. This is my city. It is a conservative city and I want to keep it that way.”
North Carolina is now one of the crucial swing states, and it could play a huge role in deciding if Kamala Harris will become America’s first woman of color to win an election or if Donald Trump will come back for a second term.
This wasn’t a close race in previous years as North Carolina has been solely Republican for many years. In fact, Obama was the first democrat to win the state since the seventies.
It is difficult to predict what will be happening in the state when it comes to the election. Almost half, or about seven million people, have said that they don’t identify with a particular party.
Four years ago, Donald Trump won over NC by about seventy-five thousand votes before he lost the election to Joe Biden.
Biden’s withdrawal from the election has caused a spike in the excitement for Harris who has stepped up as the Democratic nominee.
Elaine Marshall, North Carolina’s Secretary of State, said, “It’s such a dramatic contrast from that venom, that poison, that hatred that’s coming from Republican events.” Marshall continued, “That contrasts so strongly with the hope and the expectations of the future from Democratic party events.”
