(AmericanProsperity.com) – White House Press Secretary Karine Jean-Pierre said during a September 15 press conference that US President Joe Biden won’t pardon his son, Hunter Biden, if he’s finally convicted on federal charges. This is the first time that the Biden administration has explicitly rejected any potential commutation after Hunter Biden’s indictment on September 14.
When asked about this issue, Jean-Pierre told reporters this wasn’t the first time she answered a similar question, as she claimed she already did it when Hunter Biden was initially hit with the felony gun charges. She also said she was “very clear” at that time as she is now, and noted that the president and the First Lady wish their son the best.
US Special Counsel David Weiss indicted him on three different criminal counts related to the possession of a gun while using drugs. Different reports revealed that the circumstances of these charges are different from the previous one. As part of a plea deal with federal prosecutors, he was first hit with a pair of misdemeanor tax charges and one felony charge of buying a firearm while using narcotics.
This plea agreement, which eventually collapsed, would have resulted in prosecutors suggesting probation in exchange for a guilty plea concerning the tax charges. If the president’s son would have adhered to the conditions of a separate deal with prosecutors, the gun charge would have been officially dismissed in only two years.
Some media outlets reported that these new charges against Hunter Biden come with the potential of considerably higher penalties for the president’s son if convicted. While two of the charges carry a maximum prison sentence of 10 years, the third one carries five years maximum, which means he could serve 25 years in prison in the worst-case scenario.
The special counsel indicated in his court filings he will bring new tax charges against him before the end of this month.
