(AmericanProsperity.com) – In a dramatic development, a major rescue operation took place after California’s Santa Cruz Wharf collapsed during a fierce storm.

As hurricane-force winds and massive waves hit California’s central coast, a section of the Santa Cruz Wharf plunged into the ocean.

The collapse sent three individuals into the dangerous waters below, triggering a dramatic rescue operation that narrowly avoided tragedy.

Although the wharf was undergoing a $4 million renovation due to previous storm damage, it proved no match for the fury of the Pacific.

The collapse happened while engineers and a project manager inspected the wharf, putting their lives at risk.

Nearly 150 feet of the structure crashed into the ocean, taking public restrooms and a closed restaurant with it.

“It’s a catastrophe for those down at the end of the wharf,” said local official David Johnston.

As the storm worsened, Capitola and Rio Del Mar residents faced mandatory evacuations and were forced to flee their homes due to high surf and flooding.

“We are anticipating that what is coming toward us is more serious than what was there this morning,” warned Santa Cruz Mayor Fred Keeley.

As ocean swells threatened to reach a staggering 60 feet, the National Weather Service issued dire warnings of “life-threatening” conditions.

This incident follows a similar collapse of the Seacliff State Beach pier just last year, indicating a pattern of neglect that puts American lives at risk.
