(AmericanProsperity.com) – The Small Business Administration (SBA) released new data on Monday, July 6, outlining businesses that received money through the Paycheck Protection Program (PPP). Disturbingly, it wasn’t just businesses that received funding from the SBA. This report mentioned a few US lawmakers who benefitted from connections to companies that received this federal funding.
Among those who benefited is Paul Pelosi, husband of Speaker of the House Nancy Pelosi (D-CA). Paul owns 8.1% of EDI Associates, a limited partnership investing in the El Dorado Hotel in Sonoma, California. EDI Associates received a loan between $350,000 and $1 million dollars. Nancy Pelosi’s spokesman said they “were not involved or even aware of this PPP loan.”
House Representatives linked to companies that received money through the PPP include:
- Roger Williams (R-TX)
- Kevin Hern (R-OK)
- Mike Kelly (R-PA)
- Matt Cartwright (D-PA)
- Rick Allen (R-GA)
- Markwayne Mullin (R-OK)
- Debbie Mucarsel-Powell (D-FL)
In addition, large lobbying groups have received money as well.
Lobbying shops didn't get left out of #PPP —
Wiley Rein — $5-10m
Waxman Strategies, run by longtime Dem congressman Henry Waxman — $350k – $1m
Van Scoyoc Assoc — $1-2m
Better Markets – $150k – $350k

Businesses connected to lawmakers were not prohibited from getting PPP loans. However, some have raised eyebrows at the exorbitant amount of money given to organizations connected to politicians while many small businesses still struggle to survive or even qualify for a loan.
