Things Are Really Heating Up in the FL Senate Race
(AmericanProsperity.com) – The final stretch heading into Election Day is upon US voters, and both Republicans and Democrats are gearing up for a tight race. States like Florida have become especially heated, with both Senate candidates continuing their campaigns even amid the devastation of Hurricane Ian. Incumbent Marco Rubio (R) might still have a slight lead on Rep. Val Demings (D), but apparently neither is giving up the seat without a fight.

Both candidates recently shifted gears, but only slightly. The Hill reports the two jumped between continued money-raising efforts and sharing critical storm updates. And while Rubio enjoyed a small edge over his progressive opponent, Demings has proven her campaigning abilities by raising roughly $12 million more than the incumbent and spending large sums on key-issue ads.
Demings chose to highlight her stance on abortion rights while poking at Rubio’s attendance record. Return attacks against her have included stabs against high crime and the progressive “defund the police” movement but haven’t been as effective given the representative’s law enforcement history, including her time spent as chief of police in Orlando.
Rubio has focused his platform mainly on Democrats’ “rubber stamp” agenda in Washington, DC, hoping to paint his opponent in the same camp as House Speaker Nancy Pelosi (D-CA). He’s also spoken out against the current inflation issue and the continuing border crisis. Rubio spokesperson Elizabeth Gregory told the Hill Floridians would hold “Democrat-controlled Washington accountable” when they voted in November.
