Michigan Sheriff Says Oxford High School Failed to Call In Authorities

(AmericanProsperity.com) – On November 30, 15-year-old Ethan Crumbley emerged from an Oxford High School bathroom with a Sig Sauer 9mm handgun and opened fire. The teen hit 11 people, including one teacher. Four students died, and six others suffered injuries. Several events took place the day of the tragedy that could have easily prevented such catastrophic events, but no one acted in time.

Sheriff Michael Bouchard of Oakland County called the situation troubling as no one, including the parents and staff members at the school, reported Crumbley’s suspicious activity. Authorities have arrested the parents and charged them with involuntary manslaughter.

The entire incident is troubling. Crumbley made it through several steps and processes and shot 11 people. Sheriff Bouchard declared that if the school’s staff had reported Crumbley’s behavior to his office, the tragedy would have never occurred. He mentioned protocols for his department to take in these situations, insisting a report would have prompted authorities to investigate further and determine whether Crumbley had access to weapons.

Sheriff Bouchard asserted that it’s better to give authorities too much information rather than not enough. Additionally, the sheriff added that his department would prefer to check any leads rather than deal with tragedies.

The question still remains as to whether the school’s staff will face charges as they were also complicit in the unfolding of the tragedy.
