For gleefully celebrating Tesla’s declining stock prices, Elon Musk slammed failed vice-presidential nominee Tim Walz by calling him a “huge jerk” and “creep.”
Walz’ joy at the company’s financial hardship raises serious questions about his priorities, especially when Minnesota’s own state pension fund owns nearly 2 million Tesla shares.
During a recent interview, Musk did not hold back his frustration with Walz’ public mockery of Tesla’s stock performance.
The tech billionaire expressed disgust at what the Minnesota governor expressed during a Wisconsin town hall event.
There, Walz boasted about adding Tesla to his iPhone stock app “to give me a little boost during the day – $225 and dropping.”
“I mean you have Tim Walz, who’s a huge jerk, you know running around on stage with the Tesla stock price, where the stock price had gone in half. And he was overjoyed. What an evil thing to do, what a creep, what a jerk. Like who derives joy from that?” Musk said.
When confronted about his remarks, Walz attempted to dismiss the controversy by claiming, “I was making a joke. These people have no sense of humor.”
However, the comment shows remarkable insensitivity given that the Minnesota State Board of Investment’s pension fund reportedly owns approximately 1.8 million shares of Tesla stock.
This means Walz was effectively celebrating financial losses for his own state’s retirees.
Prominent businessman Kevin O’Leary echoed many Americans’ disbelief at Walz’s comments, calling them “beyond stupid.”
Tesla’s stock has faced significant headwinds since President Donald Trump took office, dropping nearly 50%.
The decline coincides with activist calls for boycotts against Tesla, specifically targeting Musk’s association with President Trump. Some Tesla owners have even sold or returned their vehicles in protest.
“Think it would help sales if dealerships are being firebombed? Of course not. And Tesla customers are being intimidated all over the country and all over Europe. Does that help Tesla?”
The situation has grown dangerous, with a disturbing rise in vandalism against Tesla properties.
Left-leaning cities like Portland and Seattle have seen Molotov cocktail attacks, shootings, and arson targeting Tesla facilities.
The Trump administration has launched investigations into these incidents, labeling them “domestic terrorism.”
President Trump demonstrated his support for Musk and American manufacturing by purchasing a Tesla during a White House ceremony.
Musk, who serves as the administration’s Department of Government Efficiency (DOGE) chief, emphasized that his government role is “actually disadvantageous for me to be in the government, not advantageous.”
While working to improve government efficiency, Musk’s team has implemented significant reforms.
These include a mandatory code system for government payments to enhance transparency and accountability in federal spending.
