NATO Warns of Potential War With Russia

( – According to Estonia’s Foreign Intelligence Service, Russia may be preparing for a potential war with the West within the next decade or so.

Western officials have warned of a military threat from Russia and are calling for Europe to prepare for conflict. The chief of Estonia’s Foreign Intelligence Service said that this assessment was based on Russia’s plans to double its forces on the border of NATO countries.

Kaupo Rosin said, “Russia has chosen a path which is a long-term confrontation … and the Kremlin is probably anticipating a possible conflict with NATO within the next decade or so.” However, they’re not concerned with Russia attacking anytime soon as they need to keep their troops in Ukraine and would not be able to match forces needed in a full-on European conflict.

“If we are not prepared, the likelihood of a Russian attack would be much higher than without any preparation,” Rosin said. He expressed the importance of preparing for a potential war even if Russia doesn’t attack for years.

Many have begun preparing for a potential attack; Estonia and other Baltic States have increased military spending by over 2% of the value of their economies. NATO allies have raised their presence in those countries as well.

In response, by 2025, Germany expects to have at least 4,800 “combat-ready troops” in the region. This would be their first permanent deployment since World War II. NATO and their allies said that Germany is “moving in the right direction” when it comes to preparing for an attack from Russia.

Russia’s war with Ukraine continues to worry many, and its continuation will affect the surrounding area.
