Navy Whistleblower Fired, Tests Positive

( – Last week, Acting Secretary of the Navy Thomas Modly quickly fired Capt. Brett Crozier as commander of the aircraft carrier USS Theodore Roosevelt. Crozier was relieved of his command days after pleading with the Navy in an unsecured email to protect the lives of sailors on the ship. At the time of Crozier’s email, the massive ship was docked in Guam.

Over a hundred sailors were infected with COVID-19 and the virus spread quickly on the massive ship that has a crew of over 4,000 people. However, the Navy would not allow them off the ship for medical care or to protect those not infected. The ship’s crew responded with cheers for the Captain as he left the ship for the final time.

On Monday, Modly said he acted before President Trump had an opportunity to intervene. Then, on Sunday, Trump backed Modly’s decision.

According to two Naval Academy classmates of Crozier’s and his family, Crozier has tested positive for COVID-19. Reportedly, he began exhibiting symptoms before he left the ship and is currently quarantined in Guam. Let’s hope Captain Crozier makes a speedy recovery.
