(AmericanProsperity.com) – Benjamin Netanyahu, the Israeli Prime Minister, has brought on new tensions with the United States and the United Nations.
Since the massacre of October 7th occurred, Israel has ignored four different United Nations resolutions that have called for a ceasefire in Gaza. Israel has also claimed that the UN’s Palestinian refugee agency UNRWA is a terrorist group, and has launched a campaign to bankrupt the organization.
The president of the Palestinian Authority, Mahmoud Abbas, told the general assembly that Israel doesn’t deserve to be a member of the UN. The United Nations has played a historic role in the birth of the state of Israel, which has caused many issues when looking at the war.
The UN’s premier court, the international court of justice, has found Israel’s occupation of the Palestinian Territories as discriminatory.
The General Assembly has demanded that Israel leave the occupied territories within one year. They also demanded that Antonio Guterres, the General Secretary, prepare a report on progress toward this goal within one month.
Israel has often called the UN human rights council a terrorist rights council, but the conflict between the UN and Israel has become more widespread. The Israeli ambassador to the UN, Gilad Erdan, said, “In this warped place, I hope one day you will also see the bias and perversion of morality here, and I pray that you will see the truth.”
Erdan’s successor, Danny Damon, has attacked the UN regarding its agency for Palestinian refugees. Damon wrote, “Peace is hard to come by while the UN remains loth to come to terms with the sinister reality that one of its agencies, Unrwa in Gaza, has been overrun by Hamas terrorists.” He added, “For that reason, and for the sake of peace for Israelis and for Gazans, Unrwa must be disbanded.”
Netanyahu’s evident tension with the United States will be a huge part of the deal, especially after he rejected the U.S. plan for a twenty-one day ceasefire in Lebanon.
