Non-Emergency Government Employees Ordered to Leave

(AmericanProsperity.com) – American lives abroad have been put at risk as Rwanda-backed fighters seize control of a key city in the Democratic Republic of Congo.

The dire situation has forced the U.S. State Department to evacuate non-emergency staff amid violent protests targeting Western embassies.

The situation in the Democratic Republic of Congo has rapidly deteriorated, with Rwanda-supported M23 rebels advancing across the eastern part of the country.

These fighters have seized control of most of Goma, a strategically important city, displacing half a million people and causing significant casualties and damage.

As a result, the consequences of this conflict are spilling over into attacks on American interests.

Violent protesters, angered by perceived Western inaction, have targeted U.S. government buildings in Kinshasa with fires and looting.

In a shocking breach of security, demonstrators even managed to enter a new U.S. embassy building under construction.

The U.S. Embassy in Kinshasa has issued a stark warning to American citizens, stating: “Due to an increase in violence throughout the city of Kinshasa, the U.S. Embassy in Kinshasa advises U.S. citizens to shelter-in-place and then safely depart while commercial options are available.”

This escalating crisis underscores the State Department’s efforts to protect American interests abroad.

In the meantime, the root causes of this conflict remain unaddressed. Rwanda has stubbornly remained supportive of the M23 militia group despite calls from the United Nations, the U.S., China, and the European Union for Rwanda to withdraw its forces.

The humanitarian situation on the ground is dire. Residents of Goma face shortages of food, water, and medicine.

Resident Kahindo Sifa described the desperate conditions: “There is hunger in Goma. We have to go get water from the lake and we have no medicine.”

At a time when international conflicts are reaching dangerous levels, American citizens and diplomatic personnel are being viciously targeted.

Critics of the situation are demanding decisive action to address the problems in the Democratic Republic of Congo and protect American interests and lives.
