(AmericanProsperity.com) – With the Trump administration’s new directives, the U.S. Coast Guard is doubling down on its mission to secure America’s southern borders with aircraft, boats, and specialized forces to combat illegal immigration at an unprecedented scale.

Admiral Kevin Lunday, the acting commandant, revealed that these efforts were to secure American waters as mass migrations surged from nations such as Haiti and Cuba.

He emphasized, “The U.S. Coast Guard is the world’s premiere maritime law enforcement agency, vital to protecting America’s maritime borders, territorial integrity, and sovereignty.”

Additional resources, including cutters, are deployed to key regions such as the Pacific, Gulf Coast, and the southern corridor near Florida.

Admiral Lunday stated:

“Together, in coordination with our Department of Homeland Security and Department of Defense teammates, we will detect, deter, and interdict illegal migration, drug smuggling, and other terrorist or hostile activity before it reaches our border.”

For years, the buildup of illegal immigration jeopardized American shores, driving the federal government to close venues like Dry Tortugas National Park. The influx of Cuban illegals only compounded the ongoing battle at the border.

To further secure the nation, President Trump signed an executive order calling for the creation of a plan to seal the border within 10 days, citing a national emergency fueled by unlawful mass migration and drug flow.

The order declared:

“A national emergency currently exists along the southern border of the United States. Unchecked unlawful mass migration and the unimpeded flow of opiates across our borders continue to endanger the safety and security of the American people and encourage further lawlessness.”

The focus on maritime border protection is part of a broader crackdown that involves dealing with domestic issues, such as the dismissal of Coast Guard Admiral Linda Fagan.

Her firing, linked to cost overruns, inefficiencies in border control, and an excessive focus on diversity, underlines the pressing need for tightened security strategies.

Moreover, Adm. Lunday has instructed commanders to surge assets quickly as the Coast Guard intensifies its presence across the Southeast and near U.S. territories like Puerto Rico and the Virgin Islands.

With these robust measures in place, the Trump administration is sending a clear message: America’s borders are not open for illegal entry, and the safety and security of American citizens come first.
