(AmericanProsperity.com) – Social media has become a centerpiece of society. Millions, likely billions, of people use some sort of platform in their day-to-day lives. Celebrities and even politicians use social media to stay in touch with their followers. Rep. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez (AOC) (D-NY) is one of the most prominent members of Congress on Twitter but recently decided she needed to take a break.
AOC claimed the platform gave her feelings of anxiety and stress due to the amount of negativity she received there. She announced her Twitter hiatus via another social media platform, Instagram, where she has 8.5 million followers.

AOC has often used the platform to criticize her opponents and often even her colleagues. The Democrat went on Twitter to urge Biden to pass student loan forgiveness. She has around 12.8 million followers, so it’s no surprise she sees some negativity from time to time. Good on her for stepping away.
Republicans are often behind the criticisms she receives on Twitter, with a recent photo of her making its way to the platform. The photo depicts AOC and her boyfriend maskless at a Florida restaurant/bar. The Democrat has criticized Florida’s reluctance to mandate masks, but she has no problem not wearing one in the Sunshine State.
The fact of the matter is she couldn’t stay away, not forever. In fact, AOC didn’t even make it a full day before breaking her Twitter hiatus to blast Senator Joe Manchin (D-WV) for not supporting Biden’s spending plan. Apparently, AOC rebounds quickly from anxiety and stress. How long until her next hiatus? Maybe it’ll be from Instagram. How long would that break last?
