(AmericanProsperity.com) – Paris is getting ready for the Paralympics as it is no longer hosting the Olympics. Organizations are taking advantage of the break after the Olympics to get ready for events like wheelchair rugby and para athletics during their Paralympics summer games.
The Place de la Concorde has been booming with construction activity since the Olympics ended. The site that was used for the Olympics, will also be used for the opening ceremony for the Paralympics.
Tens of thousands of athletes and spectators are joining together for the event as organizers promise a groundbreaking “spectacle.” Many Olympic venues will be holding games for the Paralympics. The Chateau de Versailles will host the para equestrian events, while the Grand Palais will host wheelchair fencing, and the venue below the Eiffel Tower will host blind football.
Organizers hope to keep up the enthusiasm of the Olympics even after it’s over, so this excitement runs into the Paralympics as well. Tony Estanguet, head of Paris 2024 organizing committee, said, “We want to use the same exact recipe. The Olympics were the first leg of the match, and now comes the second leg with the Paralympics. It will be equally as spectacular.”
The International Paralympic Committee and Paris 2024 have launched campaigns titled “Game is not over.” This is shown with ads that encourage people to come watch the Paralympics as well.
Andrew Parsons, the IPC President, said, “French fans who missed the chance to see the Olympics live now have a second shot.” He continued, “Paris will be alive, tickets will be affordable. It’s the perfect show for families.”
As Paris awaits the Paralympic events and the Olympics are over, the city has become quiet. There aren’t many locals as many have started vacationing in countryside areas, and many businesses are actually closed until September.
