Pelosi’s Bold Prediction Is A Downright Joke
(AmericanProsperity.com) – The midterms are less than two months away as Democrats and Republicans look to win majorities in Congress. Of course, both sides of the political aisle feel they’re in a position to win. House Speaker Nancy Pelosi (D-CA) and other top House progressives have made a bold prediction that’s earned them some ridicule.
Winning the Majority and More
Punchbowl News recently spoke with the top three Democrats in the House: Pelosi, House Majority Leader Steny Hoyer (D-MD), and House Majority Whip Jim Clyburn (D-SC). All three of the lawmakers made the same bold prediction despite speaking separately. The liberal politicians claimed their party wouldn’t just keep the majority, but that it would actually win seats in the House to increase it.
The trio of top House Democrats explained several factors that led to their belief. Each of the three lawmakers cited the Supreme Court’s decision to overturn Roe v. Wade, the headlines currently surrounding former President Donald Trump, and a series of legislative wins as reasons to believe they’re in a good position to increase their hold on the House.
Good Sense of Humor
Pelosi and company’s prediction might be music to the ears of the Left, but to others, it was a ridiculous assessment of the current political environment. Punchbowl mocked the lawmakers in their article about the interviews, noting the three progressives had made their comments in earnest. Former Republican National Committee communications director, Doug Heye, retweeted a post of the article and captioned it with “That’s some kind of expectations setting.”

Michael McAdams, Director of Communications of the National Republican Congressional Committee, declared Pelosi had made similar predictions in 2020. He noted that everyone knows how well that turned out, adding Pelosi’s “days in the majority are numbered.”

Democrats may feel their chances of keeping the majority are good, but Republicans have been the favorite to win back Congress for months. A combination of President Joe Biden’s abysmal approval rating, midterm history, and the state of the economy, which is the number one issue voters are looking at this cycle, points to a victory for Republicans.
Echoes From the Past
When asked what Pelosi would have to say to the people who believe the 2022 midterms have similar traits to the 2010 cycle, the Speaker claimed she didn’t know what they meant, adding no one had told her about the comparison.
For those who don’t know, in 2010 Pelosi claimed all the way up until Election Day that Democrats were heading toward victory. However, she couldn’t have been more wrong. The Speaker’s party lost a historic 63 seats in the House, drastically altering the Obama presidency. Could 2022 be a replay of 2010?
