A Call To Ban TikTok Announced
(AmericanProsperity.com) – TikTok supported a total of 755 million active users in 2022, according to Statistica, making it the most popular social media platform in the world. Numerous calls in recent years to limit or ban the influential site altogether have resulted from security fears related to the Chinese parent company, ByteDance. Just as concerning is the app’s addictive features, which could be particularly damaging to children who regularly view its content. To protect the public from TikTok’s grip, Rep. Mike Gallagher (R-WI) wants to eliminate the platform from the US for good.
Gallagher called for the TikTok ban during an interview with Fox host Sean Duffy on “Sunday Morning Futures.” Breitbart reported the lawmaker warned about the company’s dangerous influence, calling it “digital fentanyl.”

The representative reminded Americans that the Chinese Communist Party has complete control over ByteDance, meaning users are potentially giving the rival government their sensitive personal information. Subscribers also possibly open themselves to foreign news censoring, political spin, and other damaging influences.
TikTok has also fallen under fire for lax policies that could open children to Internet addiction and online predators. The Parents website recommends staying on top of children’s privacy settings and actively monitoring their activity with all apps to help safeguard against these threats.
