In a striking blow that caused chaos among thousands of its users, the infamous website 4chan was hacked.

Claims of leaked source codes, administrator identities, and user IP addresses have emerged, intensifying suspicions about the platform.

For critics of the site, 4chan’s long-established controversial reputation might have finally become its downfall.

It all blew up when users found themselves suddenly offline, sparking rumors of a serious breach.

The security violation left users unable to access the site, leading to over 1,000 complaints. Calls were made to confirm the impact, and sources suggest a massive data leak.

The breach reportedly exposed sensitive data, including moderator identities and user information.

Claims indicate that 4chan was using outdated software, leaving it vulnerable to such attacks. This breach aligns with concerns about the forum, long labeled a home for extremist content.

“4chan, the internet’s litter box, got hacked,” said cybersecurity expert Kevin Beaumont.

He added that the site “will be down for a while, looks like a pretty comprehensive [compromise] including SQL databases, source and shell access.”

Dubbed “operation soyclipse,” the attack was claimed by the splinter group known as Soyjak.party.

They exposed internal data and reopened the banned /qa/ board. In response, 4chan has not immediately addressed the breach, leaving many questions unanswered.

Speculation swirls, questioning if 4chan’s constant exposure of inflammatory posts attracted the wrong attention.

The platform’s outdated PHP with deprecated functions is under scrutiny. This negligence possibly enabled hackers to access and exploit critical backend systems.

A hacker under the handle Chud gloated about the attack, posting:

“Tonight has been a very special night for many of us at the soyjak party. Today, April 14, 2025, a hacker, who has been in 4cuck’s system for over a year, executed the true operation soyclipse, reopening /qa/, exposing personal information of various 4cuck staff, and leaking code from the site.”

As 4chan attempts to recover, questions about its future linger. Whether this breach was a calculated response from those inside and against the intolerable discourse hosted there remains to be seen.
