(AmericanProsperity.com) – In 2020, Ghislaine Maxwell, Jeffrey Epstein’s ex-girlfriend and longtime associate, was arrested on multiple criminal charges related to the trafficking and sexual abuse of young women and girls. She was denied bond. Recently, her lawyer just attempted to convince the judge presiding over her case to allow her to leave on bail for the sixth time. This time, the attorney argued that Maxwell suffered extensive physical, psychological, and sexual abuse at the hands of detention officers.

Bobbi Sternheim, Maxwell’s lawyer, reiterated a statement she previously made equating her defendant’s living conditions to the treatment of Hannibal Lecter in “Silence of the Lambs.” In a six-page letter to the court, the attorney calls her client’s lengthy incarceration “reprehensible and utterly inappropriate.”
Sternheim says the US Marshal assigned to the disgraced socialite for Monday’s hearing made several disturbing statements. Maxwell claims he told her that she wasn’t special, reminding her that she was in custody; the judge didn’t care about her needs.
The juror selection process for Maxwell’s trial began on Wednesday, November 3. Her trial is set to start on November 29 officially.
Sturnheim is asking that Maxwell be released on an unspecified amount of bail before this deadline arrives. Complicating matters further is the fact that prosecutors previously labeled the socialite a flight risk. The judge presiding over the case is unlikely to shift from that position with only a few weeks left before the matter comes before the court.
