DeSantis Fights Back After Handed A Lawsuit
(AmericanProsperity.com) – Nonprofit group Alianza Americas, along with three Venezuelan refugees, filed a lawsuit against Florida Governor Ron DeSantis (R) on September 20. The plaintiffs are seeking a class-action case against the Republican leader and several other parties, alleging the defendants used lies and manipulation to coerce the immigrants in Texas into boarding chartered planes headed to Martha’s Vineyard.
The individuals behind the suit allege DeSantis and Florida Department of Transportation Secretary Jared Perdue used five unidentified accomplices to lure the immigrants. The plaintiffs say the scouts scoured shelters and promised the food-insecure individuals $10 McDonald’s gift certificates for agreeing to board planes going to Boston and Washington, DC. Instead, the planes flew to the Massachusetts location, where no one was expecting them. The trip cost taxpayers $12,300 per person.
The plaintiffs note the immigrants were all seeking lawful channels for immigration status. They allege the recruiters abandoned them after their flight without any food, water, or other resources. The group added that the treatment they received at the hands of the defendants posed a level of “cruelty akin to what they fled in their home country.”
Governor DeSantis shot back upon learning about the lawsuit. According to a Fox News release, every immigrant involved signed a waiver holding the Republican leader and his accomplices “harmless of all liability.”

DeSantis claims the individuals boarded the planes willingly, insisting Democrats are turning the event into “political theater.”
