(AmericanProsperity.com) – Russia has some of the strictest laws on the books, especially when it comes to sexual crimes against children. And now, their parliament is set to get even tougher by introducing new legislation this month that automatically sends repeat pedophiles to harsh polar prisons for life.
Disturbing Case Prompts Response
Officials penned the legislation shortly after a case in which a repeat pedophile offender and his lover brutally raped and murdered a five-year-old girl.
Video footage shows Veronika Nikolayeva was outside playing near where her mother worked when the pair kidnapped her. They sexually assaulted the child at a local hostel, ended her life, and stuffed her tiny body into a duffle bag.
The disturbing footage also shows Veronika attempting to fight off her abductors. It wasn’t long before law enforcement arrested the two men and got a confession. Shortly after local news outlets reported the arrest of the two men, citizens formed a mob near the hostel where the little girl’s body was found. They were demanding that law enforcement hand over the suspects so they could lynch them.
Russia Warns Pedophiles
Parliamentary speaker Vyacheslav Volodin spoke of little Veronika’s horrific death, saying what she went through was a terrible tragedy. He feels it means legislators must pass stricter laws immediately.
Volodin also spoke of the murderers, reminding the public that at least one of them was a convicted pedophile and affirming that repeat offenders must serve life sentences starting in January 2022. He suggested that those who commit sex crimes “cannot be called human” and must do hard labor prison sentences in some of the harshest and coldest polar regions so they will never forget their transgressions.
He Is Not A Murderer
Russian citizens welcome the new legislation and support it, citing the need to protect children. However, many of them support vigilante justice, which happened in the case of a father who killed a pedophile for attacking his 8-year-old daughter. Vyacheslav M., 34, took matters into his own hands shortly after discovering the crime.
According to reports, Vyacheslav was drinking at a bar with Oleg Sviridov when he found videos showcasing the sexual assault of his young daughter on Sviridov’s phone. The device also contained other videos involved the violent rape of girls as young as six; incidents spanned a five-year period.
Vyacheslav immediately confronted Sviridov; he ran. The father then reported the sex crimes to the police, which led to an extensive manhunt. Vyacheslav managed to locate Sviridov before the police and stabbed him to death on the spot.
The detained father indicated that Sviridov “stumbled” on the knife during their fight during questioning. Local police continue to investigate the matter.
People all over Russia support Vyacheslav’s actions, from the media to former Russian presidential candidate Ksenia Sobchak who said, “All parents are standing up for the pedophile’s killer.” Putin’s commissioner for children’s rights, Maria Lvova-Belova, said sexual abuse on kids and teens have gone up 79% over the past eight years, and it’s time to put these types of criminals behind bars forever.
