Russiagate: Subpoenas Are Coming

( – The Russian collusion hearings are just heating up after former Deputy Attorney General Rod Rosenstein testified on June 3 before the Senate Judiciary Committee. On June 4, the Senate Homeland Security Committee, on an 8-6 party-line vote, authorized Chairman Sen. Ron Johnson (R-WI) to issue subpoenas to those involved in the Russian collusion investigation.

Johnson said the 2016 Russian interference investigation was “corrupt” and Obama administration holdovers sought to frustrate and sabotage Trump’s presidency. In particular, the committee will be seeking records and testimony from current and former FBI officials involved in the 2016 and 2017 investigations.

In a bombshell report last month, the District Court for the District of Columbia released documents and handwritten notes by FBI officials. The documents said they were trying to find a way to get former National Security Adviser Michael Flynn fired or prosecuted. On Wednesday, Rosenstein admitted there was no basis for the investigation after learning the FBI withheld information from him.
