(AmericanProsperity.com) – As the situation in Ukraine continues to persist, world leaders fear that Russian President Vladimir Putin will resort to the use of nuclear weapons out of desperation. Those fears likely deepened after Russia’s state-controlled television simulated a nuclear attack on Ireland. Officials are trying to determine why.

Russia’s Channel One displayed a graphic depicting a nuclear attack on Ireland and the United Kingdom. While the simulation played, Dmitry Kiselyov described the attack, claiming it would only take one Sarmat missile, also known as Satan II, to wipe out the UK. The Russian anchor also spoke about an experimental weapon Russia has at its disposal, an underwater drone called Poseidon that boasts nuclear capabilities.

Kiselyov mentioned that the 100-megaton blast would create a massive tsunami, claiming it could reach heights of 1,600 feet while also carrying deadly doses of radiation. The anchor didn’t mention Ireland, but the simulation showed the country destroyed alongside the UK. Billy Kelleher, a Fianna Fáil Member of the European Parliament (MEP) for Ireland South, asserted Ireland’s government needed to speak with Russian ambassador, Yury Filatov, and inform him of their abhorrence regarding the Russian segment.

Kelleher declared he wouldn’t see Russia’s simulation as a threat to Ireland, noting it was meant for the people of Russia, not Ireland or the UK, to see, calling it “internal propaganda.” The MEP noted that while an attack of that magnitude is unlikely to take place, it would wipe out the UK and take Ireland with it.

According to Newsmax, Steve Rosenberg, BBC correspondent in Moscow, believes this is another attempt by Russia’s government to demonize Western countries and convince its people that it’s the victim and surrounded by threats. What do you think?
