(AmericanProsperity.com) – Last week, the panel officials created in January to investigate the insurrection at the capitol moved to pursue criminal charges against Stephen K. Bannon, the former CEO of Trump’s campaign. The Democrat-dominated investigative panel wishes to place criminal contempt on Bannon for ignoring their subpoena.

Adam Schiff claims Bannon could go to jail for his defiance. Bannon’s legal team responded to the committee with a letter explaining how their client was only following executive privilege protocol.

The panel suggests Bannon and possibly Kash Patel, former national security aide, hold information on the former president’s exact actions during the riots in the capitol.
Bannon said his refusal to comply with the subpoena is due to former President Trump’s executive privilege, which protects communications between a president and his aides. The safeguard makes any testimony from Bannon and Patel unusable because neither can share the information legally. There are exceptions to this rule, but they require legal intervention.
As to what possible information Trump’s former aides could hold, the details remain fuzzy. The panel has yet to say exactly what they believe Bannon knows that is so vital, but the group may attempt to challenge Trump’s executive privilege in court to get their answer.
