(AmericanProsperity.com) – A United States Secret Service spokesperson responded to the recent assassination attempt on Donald Trump at the Trump International Golf Course in West Palm Beach, Florida by saying “We live in dangerous times.”
The spokesperson spoke out about what he witnessed just hours after an individual was seen with an AK-47 style rifle just a few hundred yards from Donald Trump.
The incident is being treated by the FBI as a second attempted assassination on Donald Trump. Pictures were released by law enforcement that showed how close the person was to Trump at the Golf Course.
This is the second time that Donald Trump has been near a shooter; the first attempted assassination took place in Butler, Pennsylvania as he was giving a rally speech. The gunman was able to scale a building nearby and fire multiple shots at not just former president Donald Trump, but also into the crowd.
A sheriff of West Palm Beach, Ric Bradshaw, was asked how close the gunman was to Donald Trump at the golf course. His response was “Probably between three hundred and five hundred yards – but with a rifle and scope like that, that’s not a lot of distance.”
In the aftermath of the incident there were conflicting narratives. One narrative looked at how exposed Trump was and how even with increased security following the Butler incident, he was still in an exposed area.
With this said, Bradshaw said that if he was sitting president then he would have a lot more security and wouldn’t have been as vulnerable, but “he is not the sitting president, and so we are limited to what the Secret Service deems possible.”
