(AmericanProsperity.com) – The Secret Service is ensuring that Donald Trump is surrounded by bulletproof glass from now on at his outdoor rallies. A federal law enforcement source stated this information while also saying that indoor rallies wouldn’t have the same security.
This change comes after an assassination attempt on the former president while he was speaking at a rally in Pennsylvania. The former president was addressing the crowd just minutes before he was grazed by a bullet that flew directly beside his ear. He did avoid serious injury and was rushed out of the event as soon as the threat was cleared. One spectator in the audience was killed and two others were injured.
Since this attempt, there has been increasing scrutiny on the Secret Service security and how there could be improvements. Criticism was plentiful, especially after it was revealed that law enforcement identified the gunman as “suspicious” an hour before the shooting took place, but they lost track of him.
Thomas Matthew Crooks, the twenty-year-old gunman, was able to scale a nearby building with his assault rifle and fired about eight shots into the crowd and at Donald Trump. The Secret Service team is under fire for the way they handled security, and there have been ongoing investigations to find out how this was able to happen at a rally with a presidential candidate.
New security additions would be added to ensure that this doesn’t happen again to the former president or to anyone else making a public political speech.
