“Serious Crimes” Committed Against Pro-Palestinian Protestors

(AmericanProsperity.com) – A recent event at Columbia University has shocked officers who are looking into the case. A group of protestors at Columbia University say that they were attacked during a gathering in support of the Palestinians. They claimed that they were attacked with what they thought was a “chemical-based weapon.”

The NYPD confirmed that there was a report on file for assault after the groups of protesters said that they smelled a foul odor. They then became nauseated and had headaches as well during their protest on Friday. However, many denied medical care at the time of the incident.

Many of the students who did seek out medical care following the incident and other victims reported symptoms such as nausea, vomiting, chest pain, and abdominal pain.

According to Interim Provost Dennis A Mitchell, the NYPD is taking the “lead role in investigating what appear to have been serious crimes, possibly hate crimes.” He continued, saying “Numerous Columbia and Barnard students who attended a protest later reported being sprayed with a foul-smelling substance that required students to seek medical treatment.”

The investigation remains ongoing and officials have said that they are continuing to look into the situation as they have gotten recent reports that they say “are of great concern.”

The Columbia University Department said, “While the investigation is proceeding, we continue to seek the university community’s support. Reporting is essential so that the proper authorities — including the NYPD — can track down the facts and take action as necessary.”

The Department of Public Safety has asked the public to come forward with any information as they continue to understand what happened during this incident. Many of the protesters were from the groups Students for Justice in Palestine and Jewish Voice for Peace.

Both of these groups were previously suspended after violating university policies, holding unauthorized events that “included threatening rhetoric and intimidation.” However, the suspension of these groups caused a huge uproar across the country.

The increase in hate crimes against people protesting, no matter which side it’s on, has the potential to increase as the Israel-Gaza conflict continues. The NYPD is still investigating this crime and they are looking for any information they can get on what happened as well as what was used to attack the protesters.
