(AmericanProsperity.com) – During the rebellious teenage years, some teenagers lie to their parents about where they are. Some try their hand at shoplifting or other activities a bit more criminal in nature. But, two Texas teens recently took their rebellion a little too far by stealing a necklace from a dead man lying in a ditch.
On Monday, August 16, 17-year-old Bethany Martin and a 16-year-old friend found a man’s body by the side of the road in Southwest Bexar County, Texas. The teens recorded themselves removing a necklace from the corpse and posted it to Snapchat. The pair then phoned another friend, who called the police after arriving at the scene. Afterward, police arrested the two for theft of a human corpse or grave.
ABC’s San Antonio affiliate KSAT 12 shared the news on Twitter:

According to the affidavit, Martin removed the necklace and gave the medallion to her friend because it “matched her fashion style.” However, the girls did hand over the jewelry to authorities so they could pass it on to the man’s family. After an examination by the Bexar County Medical Examiner, authorities announced the man found under the bridge died by suicide.
There used to be a certain amount of respect for the dead, but apparently, even that’s waning among the next generation’s youth. Hopefully, these teenagers have learned their lesson now that they have a criminal record.
