(AmericanProsperity.com) – As many people look forward to what the new year may bring, others are still reeling from the past years’ atrocities. COVID and all the new variants that appear almost monthly may seem like a walk in the park compared to what many have endured in the year that tried to “one-up” 2020. So let’s take a look at the terrible storms of 2021 and the devastation they left behind.
Texas — Billion-Dollar Disaster
It is safe to say Texans weren’t too thrilled to spend Valentine’s week blanketed under snow, sleet, and freezing rain, especially considering this historic winter event left millions without power for days. This billion-dollar disaster will undoubtedly have Texans on high alert come this February and many more to follow.
China — Worst Sandstorm
If fighting the COVID pandemic weren’t enough, March blasted China with the worst sandstorm of the decade. As residents attempted to protect themselves from the harsh air with goggles and masks, airports canceled flights, and many schools shut down. By July, Americans would have air quality issues of their own.
Oregon Fires Affect East Coast
In Oregon, a lightning strike that hit in July would result in 39 days of continuous burning across 413,000 acres before firefighters could contain it. The Bootleg Fire was so intense that it not only created its own weather system but even resulted in hazy skies and smoke inhalation as far east as New York and Pennsylvania. It was estimated that the smoke alone caused terrible air quality for roughly 40 million Americans.
Egyptian Storms Rouse Venomous Residents
When November rolled around Egyptians, found themselves with some uninvited weather of their own — along with venomous arthropods, reptiles, and rodents. Lethal scorpions and snakes scrambled for new dwellings as torrential rains, dust storms, and even snow blew across Egypt. Scorpions alone injured over 400 people, while an unfortunate three died.

Historic Tornado Outbreak of December
As the year drew closer to the end, many Americans would soon find Mother Nature wasn’t done just yet. December 10-11 set a new record when 69 tornadoes traveled across eight states from Arkansas to as far north as Michigan. As a result, over 500,000 businesses and residences were left without power. Cars were tossed around like toys, family heirlooms turned up in other states, and various rescue teams sifted through debris and demolished buildings looking for survivors.
It’s fair to say the terrible storms of 2021 brought on horrific consequences and taught many people that Mother Nature is not a force to be reckoned with. If anything, she definitely knows how to keep us on our toes. Are you prepared for what 2022 may bring?
