The Effect of United States Jobs on Presidential Election

(AmericanProsperity.com) – Copyright 2024, AmericanProsperity.comThe monthly jobs report is something that many have considered can actually affect the presidential election in some way.

This particular jobs report is a reliable indicator of how the U.S. economy is really doing, and it therefore serves as a marker many are focusing on for this upcoming presidential election.

Teddy Goff, a digital director for Barack Obama’s re-election campaign, said, “I cannot tell you the anxiety that you feel the night before and that morning.” He said that he remembers anticipating the report and said that they were worried “one bad month could take the entire enterprise down.”

At the end of last week, staffers on both sides of the election waited and refreshed to see the results of the job report. Ultimately, Americans added over one hundred and forty thousand jobs, but this was less than expected.

“I don’t think there’s any voter who should change their vote based on Friday’s release,” said chairman of the council of economic advisers for Obama’s campaign Jason Furman.

He continued to say that many normal people on the street don’t have any idea how many jobs were added and many might not even understand the importance.

Experts have said that this campaign is extremely close, meaning that almost anything can shift the dial in a different direction. This is why the job reporting has been a big indicator of what people think of the election.

As the election nears, there will be multiple reports that will be taken into consideration, from job growth reports to the inflation gauge.
