(AmericanProsperity.com) – South Carolina GOP Senator Tim Scott announced on Wednesday morning he has officially launched a presidential exploratory committee, making him the only African-American Republican Senator to potentially challenge former US President Donald Trump for the GOP’s nomination in the party’s primaries.
In a video, Scott explained that American conservatives need more hope for the future, pointing out that the United States is not the land of oppression but the land of opportunity. According to different experts, Scott’s strategy of presenting a positive vision for the country’s future, instead of focusing on negative aspects, sets him apart from the other GOP presidential candidates and is an interesting move.
Scott also said on his video that he’s announcing this exploratory committee as he’s a strong defender of the conservative values that have made the United States an “exceptional” nation. He added that he will never back down from these values and he will always fight for them.
Over the last few months, Scott has repeatedly hinted at a presidential run. Many analysts predict that, despite Trump’s popularity, the GOP primaries could become one of the most competitive in recent history if the Senator enters the race.
In addition to the former president, Scott will face some GOP heavyweights if he finally enters. These include former Alaska Governor Asa Hutchinson, tech businessman Vivek Ramaswamy, and former South Carolina Governor and Ambassador to the United Nations Nikki Haley. Other potential strong candidates who could enter the race are former Secretary of State Mike Pompeo, Florida Governor Ron DeSantis, former Vice President Mike Pence and the former National Security Adviser John Bolton.
In his video, the South Carolina Senator criticized President Joe Biden and various members of the Democratic Party, blaming them for some of the significant problems Americans are currently facing. He also said that America needed to protect its borders, protect religious liberty and stand up to the Chinese regime.
