Trump and FLOTUS Test Positive for COVID

LAST UPDATED 10/5/2020

( After months of leading the country through the COVID-19 epidemic, President Donald Trump and the First Lady, Melania Trump, tested positive for the novel coronavirus. This news arrived early on the morning of Friday, October 2 after a fundraising trip to New Jersey.

President Trump announced the news through Twitter around 1 AM:

The President is believed to have contracted the virus from his Communications Director, Hope Hicks, who usually travels with him. Melania Trump shared about the experience on her Twitter as well:

As the President and FLOTUS enter quarantine, they’re under the care of Navy Commander Dr. Sean Conley. A statement released by Dr. Conley expressed that the President will “continue carrying out his duties without disruption,” although many events in the following weeks have been canceled.

As President Trump falls into the high-risk category for the disease, he’s well attended by an incredible physician. However, the coming weeks will surely test the President’s resolve, health, and throw a curveball for handling the final weeks of the campaign season.

Trump thanked his fans for their support via Twitter late Sunday morning, followed by a brief ride around the hospital with his security detail to wave to his supporters.

Doctors have stated that he is making progress and could potentially be discharged as early as today. We will update with any new developments.
