Trump Confident About Handling DeSantis Challenge

(AmericanProsperity.com) – Buzz has been growing in recent months that Florida Governor Ron DeSantis might be the GOP’s new top pick for the 2024 presidential run.

Trump offered his thoughts on the matter during a January 16 stream of “The Water Cooler with David Brody,” as shared by RealAmericasVoice on Rumble.

During the interview, the former president defended his past and present approach to the elections, saying he considered himself a nice guy, but to win, “we have to be tough, and we have to fight back.” When Brody asked Trump if DeSantis would be making a “bad move” by announcing a bid for the 2024 candidacy, the former president had no direct comment. Instead, he mentioned the weight his initial endorsement had given DeSantis’ gubernatorial bid in 2018, implying the governor would have lost the GOP nomination to his opponent, Adam Putnam, without the substantial boost.

Trump continued by expressing shock over the possibility that DeSantis would run against him despite all he had done to make the Florida governor. He added, “we’ll handle that the way I handle things.”

The former president has been clear about his disregard for “disloyalty” within his party, although he hasn’t clarified exactly what that means for DeSantis or any other potential opponents. And he might have better chances than some of the signs have indicated. Brody shared a January 5 News Nation poll that showed Trump was still the GOP’s top pick.

Not everyone agrees. The Washington Post reported the former president simply wasn’t as electable as he once was — and even Elon Musk, who literally bought Twitter in a move to support Trump, told Reuters he’d give the Florida governor his vote this time around. Jason Roe, who once served as executive director for the Michigan Republican Party, told POLITICO he believes the party will see even greater opposition to Trump in the coming months.
