In a huge surprise for many, President Donald Trump issued a last-minute pardon of a politician convicted of fraudulently spending funds to honor a deceased police officer for personal use.
The pardon frees Michele Fiore from what many conservatives view as politically motivated prosecution stemming from her unwavering support for Trump and his America First agenda.
Michele Fiore, a former Las Vegas City councilwoman and current Republican justice of the peace in Nye County, received a complete and unconditional pardon from President Trump after being convicted on federal wire fraud charges.
She had been facing up to 20 years in prison on each count before the presidential intervention.
The case against Fiore centered on allegations that she misappropriated over $70,000 from funds raised initially for a statue honoring a fallen police officer.

The FBI investigation into Fiore began while examining her campaign finances during her gubernatorial run, raising questions about selective prosecution.
Fiore said in a statement:
“Today, I stand before you — not just as a free woman, but as a vindicated soul whose prayers were heard, whose faith held firm, and whose truth could not be buried by injustice… To those who weaponized the justice system against me: I don’t need to return fire. The truth already has. To my supporters who never stopped believing: this victory is yours too. Thank you for all your prayers.”
Predictably, liberal Nevada Attorney General Aaron Ford condemned the pardon, calling it a “disgrace” and claiming it betrays fallen officers’ families.
His statement reflects the left’s ongoing refusal to acknowledge the political weaponization of the justice system against conservatives, particularly those who support President Trump.
Furthermore, this clemency allows Fiore to return to her duties as justice of the peace in Nye County without the cloud of federal charges hanging over her head.
The pardon is part of a series of clemency actions by President Trump, including pardons for January 6 defendants who many patriots believe were unjustly prosecuted for participating in a legitimate political protest.
Many Democrat-appointed prosecutors pushed the narrative that Fiore abused her position and misused memorial funds.
