Trump Slams Biden for Refusing to Comment on Maui Fires.

( – Presidential candidate and former President Donald Trump criticized President Joe Biden on August 14 for making no comments about the Maui fires when asked by a reporter. US officials have so far confirmed 99 killed and hundreds of people missing during the deadly wildfires on the Hawaiian island.

In a video posted on Twitter, the former commander-in-chief said that the Biden administration is partly to blame for this tragedy, as the government wasn’t “prepared” and the aftermath is “going very poorly.” Trump also said there hasn’t been such an incompetent president in US history as “Crooked Joe Biden,” as he has done nothing in this crisis and provided no comments on “the death and the tragedy.”

In another part of the video, the Republican leader said it’s “disgraceful” that President Biden is refusing to provide any help or comment on this “tragedy.” However, Trump said this wasn’t surprising as he accused the commander-in-chief of doing the same on the train derailment crisis in East Palestine, Ohio.

As reported by the New York Times, wildfires started to spread through over 2,800 acres on Maui on August 8, flattening the Lahaina town on the coast. The liberal newspaper noted this was fueled by strong winds that exceeded 70 mph.

According to ABC News, the president was asked by a reporter about the crisis in the Hawaiian island while returning to the White House on August 13 from his Rehoboth Beach house in Delaware. Instead of providing any detail about his administration’s stance on this matter, President Biden said he had “no comment.”

Following these remarks and the criticism President Biden received on social media, White House press secretary Karine Jean-Pierre said that he was “deeply concerned” about the devastation in Maui. She then told reporters that the president is going to guarantee that Hawaii has everything it needs to recover from the fires Jean-Pierre also said that President Biden will support the Hawaiian government “as long as it takes.”
