Trump Taking Preventative COVID-19 Measures

( – On Monday, President Trump said he’s taking hydroxychloroquine (HCQ) to prevent COVID-19. For several months, Trump has promoted HCQ as a way to treat the coronavirus symptoms. White House physician Sean Conley said he discussed the pros and cons of the drug. Together, they concluded that preventative treatment outweighed the risks, and the doctor prescribed the drug for Trump’s use.

In his announcement, Trump said a lot of good has come from the drug, and then announced he was taking it. Along with HCQ, he’s taking zinc and an “original dose” of antibiotic azithromycin. He said this was a personal decision, but believes it provides an extra layer of protection against the virus.

On Tuesday, Vice President Mike Pence was asked if he’s taking hydroxychloroquine as well. Pence said his doctor hadn’t recommended it, but he wouldn’t hesitate if he did. He encouraged every American to follow their doctor’s advice.
