(AmericanProsperity.com) – President-elect Donald Trump has once again proven his commitment to fiscal responsibility by challenging the GOP to renegotiate a spending bill bloated with Democrat priorities.
Just days before a potential government shutdown, Trump and Vice President-elect JD Vance issued a rallying cry to fellow Republicans, urging them to stand firm against the Democrats’ wasteful spending agenda.
Their statement minced no words: “Republicans must GET SMART and TOUGH. If Democrats threaten to shut down the government unless we give them everything they want, then CALL THEIR BLUFF.”
“It is [Senate Majority Leader Chuck] Schumer and [President Joe] Biden who are holding up aid to our farmers and disaster relief,” they added.
The bipartisan spending bill, which was nothing short of a Democrat wish list, is now in jeopardy due to Trump’s intervention.
It included a staggering $100.4 billion in so-called “disaster aid” and even proposed funding for a potential new stadium for the Washington Commanders.
By rejecting this bill, Trump sent a clear message: no more business as usual in Washington.
Predictably, the liberal media and Democrats are in an uproar. House Minority Leader Hakeem Jeffries claimed that “House Republicans have been ordered to shut down the government.”
Jeffries’ remarks have been deemed a desperate attempt to shift blame and manipulate public opinion.
Critics argue that it is the Democrats who are holding the American people hostage with their appetite for unchecked spending.
By pushing for a debt ceiling increase now, Trump is ensuring that the necessary financial reckoning happens on Biden’s watch.
As Trump and Vance pointed out, “If Democrats won’t cooperate on the debt ceiling now, what makes anyone think they would do it in June during our administration?”
Even tech mogul Elon Musk has thrown his support behind Trump’s stance, recognizing the urgent need to rein in government spending.
As Trump suggests, America needs a streamlined spending bill that does not cave to Democrat demands.
