(AmericanProsperity.com) – Despite aggressive efforts to tarnish President-elect Donald Trump’s image, the lamestream media has suffered a massive loss.
ABC News and George Stephanopoulos have been forced to pay Trump a whopping $15 million to settle a defamation lawsuit.
This huge payout exposes the liberal media’s blatant bias and their relentless attempts to smear the President-elect.
The lawsuit stemmed from Stephanopoulos’s false claim that Trump was found “liable for rape” during a broadcast of ABC’s This Week on March 10, 2024.
In reality, a jury had found Trump liable for “sexual abuse” but not for rape in the E. Jean Carroll case.
The left-wing media conveniently ignored this crucial distinction in their desperate attempt to tarnish Trump’s reputation.
As part of the settlement, ABC News will donate $15 million to a Presidential foundation and museum that Trump will establish.
ABC News and Stephanopoulos will also pay $1 million to cover Trump’s legal fees.
The settlement also includes a public statement of regret from ABC News, exposing the network’s shameful conduct.
An ABC News spokesperson stated, “ABC News and George Stephanopoulos regret statements regarding President Donald J Trump made during an interview by George Stephanopoulos with Rep. Nancy Mace on ABC’s This Week on March 10, 2024.”
After Trump’s legal team moved the matter to court, Stephanopoulos declared, “Trump sued me because I used the word ‘rape,’ even though a judge said that’s in fact what did happen. We filed a motion to dismiss.”
Stephanopoulos’s statement shows the liberal media’s stubborn refusal to admit their mistakes.
The lawsuit was filed in the Southern District of Florida Federal Court, where Trump’s legal team argued that Stephanopoulos made false and disparaging statements during ABC broadcasts.
The settlement avoided a trial, sparing ABC News and Stephanopoulos from further embarrassment and potential damages.
This victory for Trump is just the beginning. He is also pursuing a $10 billion lawsuit against CBS News for “deceptive conduct” during an interview with Kamala Harris.
