NY AG Is Going After the Trump Family
(AmericanProsperity.com) – New York’s liberal attorney general, Letitia James, filed a civil lawsuit on September 21 against the Trump Organization. The official named the former president, three of his adult children, and organization leaders Allen Weisselberg and Jeffrey McConney as additional defendants. While James seems confident she has a case, many observers are calling the move a political stunt.
According to the court document, Trump and other executives altered the estimated values of multiple properties, which they used for financial gain via commercial real estate loans and tax benefits. James believes the practices, which the AG has deemed deceptive and fraudulent, might also violate certain federal laws.

For example, the former president had his Trump Tower apartment valued at 30,000 square feet, even though the actual size is 10,996 square feet. Additionally, he had it estimated at $29,738 per square foot, even though maximum appraised values for other New York apartments during that time averaged no more than $10,000 per square foot. The assessment falsely assessed the property’s worth at $327 million.
James seeks $250 million in total damages for alleged fraudulent activity on 23 assets, most of which are properties.
Trump and his supporters say James doesn’t have a leg to stand on. The 45th Commander in Chief’s attorney, Alina Habba, called out the move as part of a “political agenda” and an “unchecked abuse of authority.” She said she looks forward to the fight. Eric Trump also fired back, calling the investigation “a joke.” Donald Trump Jr. was less eloquent in his response, tweeting, “The b—s— Dem witch-hunt continues!”
