(AmericanProsperity.com) – As prosecutors are looking into the classified documents found at former President Donald Trump’s home in Mar-a-Lago, Trump’s attorney hired an attorney for himself, according to Reuters.
Evan Corcoran has hired Michael Levy to represent him as U.S. Special Counsel Jack Smith reportedly continues his probe into the classified documents and possible attempts to obstruct it. Corcoran has since testified in front of a grand jury and is being asked to testify once again, with prosecutors asking the judge to pierce the attorney-client privilege since they allegedly uncovered evidence of a crime.
The interest in Corcoran comes after he was communicating with the National Archives and Department of Justice about the classified material still in the former president’s possession following his exit from the White House.
Trump’s other lawyer, Christina Bobb, is also a person of interest, as she reportedly signed a certificate claiming that all material was handed over. Now, she is reportedly cooperating with federal prosecutors into whether the former president violated the Presidential Records Act and “obstructed justice.”
Trump is not the latest public official to have been discovered with classified documents. Months later, President Biden still had such documents in his old office at the Penn Biden Center for Diplomacy and Global Engagement, according to American Pigeon. Other material was then found inside his Delaware home in his garage where Hunter Biden reportedly had access.
Former Vice President Mike Pence was the third to have been discovered with classified documents. After news came out about Trump and Biden, Pence reportedly asked an attorney to conduct a search. This backtracks a previous statement made by the vice president when he assured that he did not take anything with him upon leaving office.
South Carolina Senator Lindsey Graham came to Pence’s defense to say that he does not think that he was trying to “compromise national security,” but he observed that there was clearly a problem.
