(AmericanProsperity.com) – The United States and Britain have formally accused Iran of supplying Russia with short-range missiles that they are using to attack Ukraine. Following this, they have announced new sanctions on Moscow and Tehran before they plan a visit to Kyiv.
Antony Blinken, U.S. Secretary of State, spoke alongside British Foreign Secretary David Lammy during a London visit where he claimed that Iran had ignored warnings that if they transferred weapons, there would be a profound escalation of conflict.
When speaking to reporters, he said that dozens of Russian military personnel had been trained in Iran to use the Fath-360 close-range missile systems.
Blinken said, “Russia has now received shipments of these ballistic missiles and will likely use them within weeks in Ukraine, against Ukrainians. The supply of Iranian missiles enables Russia to use more of its arsenal for targets that are further from the front line.”
Russia is trying to repel Ukraine’s surprise offensive that continued to claim hundreds of miles of territory in Russia’s Kursk region. These accusations could justify demands from Ukraine for more weapons, from Western countries like the U.S., to infiltrate further into Russian territory.
Iran has denied supplying these ballistic missiles to Russia, according to the semiofficial ISNA news agency. Ministry spokesman Nasser Kanaani said, “Publishing wrong and misleading reports about transferring Iranian weapons to some countries is merely an ugly propaganda and lie aimed at hiding illegal massive size weaponry support by the U.S. and some Western nations for genocide in the Gaza Strip.”
The United Kingdom, United States, and other Western allies are fighting for an end to the war between Israel and Hamas by pushing for a cease-fire. The other concern is that this war could potentially spread into a broader war if attacks from Iran begin.
Britain, Germany, and France announced new sanctions against Iran and Russia, claiming that their missile transfers are “a direct threat to European security.”
