(AmericanProsperity.com) – Now, more than ever, it is crucial for the United States to have a strong presence in space. So much of our daily life, from internet and cell phone connections to government intel and national security, is closely linked to orbiting satellites. To help keep America on the cutting edge, the US Air Force (USAF) is opening a new lab to develop spacecraft materials.
On October 29, the USAF opened the Deployable Structures Laboratory, nicknamed DeSel, on the Kirtland Air Force Base in New Mexico. The $4 million lab houses special equipment to test spacecraft structures and high-strain composite material.
The Air Force was quite excited to announce and celebrate the new lab:
If your a fan of testing novel deployable space structures, then look no further!
Our new Deployable Structures Laboratory just had its #ribboncutting ceremony last week and is continuing the work listed above: https://t.co/GY2nyhp53t#AFResearchLab #AFRLSpace #SpaceTech pic.twitter.com/54of23SA2L

In a press release, Col. Eric Felt spoke of the “game-changing research” at DeSel will give the United States “the best advantages possible over our adversaries.”
Hopefully, this new step forward for the USAF and the Space Force will allow our nation to secure space just like we have secured our borders. By pushing to develop the most advanced technology in the world, our armed forces ensure our future freedoms and safety.
