US Leads World in Natural Gas Exports

Here’s ONE THING America Is Still Great At With Biden At The Helm

(AmericanProsperity.com) – Russia has long been the world leader of natural gas, distributing more of the resource than anyone else. That trend may be coming to an end. During the first six months of 2022, the United States led in liquified natural gas (LNG) exports. Could America become the world’s new top exporter of the resource?

The Energy Information Administration (EIA), a subsidiary of the US Department of Energy (DOE), recently reported that in terms of LNG exports, America’s capacity averaged 11.4 billion cubic feet per day (Bcf/d), peaking at around 13.9 Bcf/d. The Institute for Energy Economics and Financial Analysis(IEEFA) discussed the EIA report.

Experts said estimates were in line with what they had predicted in December 2021, when they claimed the US would surpass Qatar and Australia in LNG exports. The IEEFA shared that much of the outgoing shipments went to Europe as a result of the ongoing conflict in Ukraine.

Seatrade Maritime News noted that Poten & Partners(P&P), an active broker in LNG markets, covered the US growth in the sector. The firm reportedly expects to see America and Qatar at the forefront of LNG supply growth over the next 10 years. P&P predicted the two countries will export over half of the projected 200 metric ton increase between this year and 2032. The firm explained the US will contribute around 60 metric tons of the new supply, while Qatar will be responsible for an estimated 42 metric tons.
