(AmericanProsperity.com) – After 93 days of being in charge of addressing the “root causes” of the border crisis, Vice President Kamala Harris finally showed up near the US-Mexico line. While some Americans are relieved she finally chose to visit the border, many are speculating on why she chose to head south only now.
This week, Harris’ team announced her plans to visit El Paso, Texas. Yet, this only came after former President Donald Trump told of his own plans to visit the border at the end of this month. Senator Lindsey Graham (R-SC) applauded Trump for the pressure he put on the Biden administration through his announcement:
No doubt in my mind that Vice President Harris’s long-overdue visit to the U.S.-Mexico border was prompted by President Trump’s decision to visit the border next week.

After being met by protestors upon her arrival, Harris held a roundtable with community leaders, toured both a processing center and a port of entry run by Customs and Border Patrol (CBP), and met with five girls from Central America.
Harris did not make any new revelations or encouraging comments during her visit, but she at least has now seen a small part of the border crisis face to face. However, many critics have called the vice president out for visiting El Paso rather than more overrun CBP sites further south on the Texas border.
When President Biden first told America that Harris would be focusing her work on the border crisis, he should have had a better optics plan in mind. By choosing to wait this long, it seems Harris only did it under pressure from Trump and potentially for a good photo-op, although these photos are more likely to be used against her should she run for office again.
