(AmericanProsperity.com) – Defying liberal opposition and lawsuits, Oklahoma Superintendent Ryan Walters is facing a baffling controversy over Christian values in public schools.
Himself a vocal Trump supporter and potential future education secretary, Walters is pushing to bring the Bible and prayer back into classrooms.
Watch the video below.
The reason behind his campaign is that he argues that removing religion from schools has led to a decline in education quality.
Walters is a former high school history teacher and 2016 teacher of the year finalist.
He was appointed Secretary of Public Education in Oklahoma in 2020 and elected as Superintendent in 2022.
Since taking office, he has been on a mission to restore traditional values to the state’s education system.
“The left has driven the Bible out of schools, driven prayer out of schools, and everything in education has gotten worse since,” Walters stated.
Liberals went up in arms after Walters mandated the inclusion of the Bible in school curriculums for grades 5-12.
This decision aligns with President-elect Donald Trump’s agenda to reintroduce prayer in schools, a clear contrast to the left’s attempts to secularize education.
Walters is not stopping there. He has also proposed creating an Office of Religious Liberty and Patriotism.
“I have continued to hear the gaslighting from the left, frankly, even from this network, pushing lies about what’s going on across America,” Walters boldly stated during a CNN interview, calling out the mainstream media’s bias.
Despite facing a lawsuit and a petition with over 14,000 signatures opposing his Bible mandate, Walters firmly believes that the Bible uniquely influenced American history.
He argues that the Constitution supports religious liberty and that students should understand the Bible’s role in shaping the nation.
.@realDonaldTrump has a clear mandate for education. He is a champion of school choice, patriotic education, and prayer in school. The teacher unions and ACLU may be losing their minds, but we are going to protect the constitutional rights that Americans have held dear for… pic.twitter.com/zWGn72KmFU
