( – Like many people, Joseph Masters, 83, enjoyed visiting Disney World in Orlando, Florida. The veteran likely never thought that his most recent visit to the “Happiest Place on Earth” would be his last. Masters died while on a ride at the park, his wife declared he “died in his happy place.”

On September 25, Masters, a 23-year veteran with the Army National Guard, suffered from a heart attack while on the Tomorrowland Transit Authority PeopleMover. His wife, Alice, recalled panicking and asking for help while attempting to get ahold of other family members. Once the ride came to an end, park officials and staff attempted to resuscitate Masters before he was transported to Celebration Hospital, where personnel pronounced him deceased.

The 83-year-old had a pacemaker and a long list of pre-existing conditions including hypertension and diabetes. After his death doctors discovered a large arterial blockage near the right side of his heart. Authorities deemed Masters died of natural causes.

Masters obituary mentioned he was the foreman of a stage lighting company and a retired captain of the Palm Coast Volunteer Fire Rescue. The veteran’s life consisted of spending time with his family, the firehouse, the beach, a motorcycle club, fishing, the casino, and Disney World.
