(AmericanProsperity.com) – In response to the rising retail crime wave across the United States, America’s retail giant, Walmart, is the first to pack its employees with body cameras to protect both workers and customers from rampant shoplifting.

The nation’s largest retailer has launched a pilot program in one market, reportedly in Denton, Texas, where select employees will don body cameras.

This initiative comes as a direct response to the alarming 93% increase in shoplifting incidents since 2019, a statistic that exposes the failures of liberal policies in major cities across America.

This new policy follows in the footsteps of other retailers, such as TJ Maxx, HomeGoods, and Marshalls, which have already implemented body cameras to combat the shoplifting epidemic.

Furthermore, the National Retail Federation reports a staggering 90% increase in dollar losses due to theft, with high-profile smash-and-grab incidents making headlines across the country.

This crime wave is a direct result of lenient laws and prosecutors who prioritize criminals over honest citizens and hardworking business owners.

NRF Vice President of Asset Protection and Retail Operations David Johnston said, “Retailers are making every effort to ensure the safety and well-being of their customers, associates and communities.”

“The use of body cameras is still a newer technology being used in retail and individual retailers are finding how this technology best works within their environments,” he added.

While liberals may cry foul over privacy concerns, the reality is that these cameras are a necessary tool in the fight against crime.

As one Walmart spokesperson put it, “While we don’t talk about the specifics of our security measures, we are always looking at new and innovative technology used across the retail industry.”

In addition, this initiative is about protecting merchandise and safeguarding the hardworking Americans who keep our economy running.

Employees are instructed to record escalating interactions with customers, providing an objective record that can be crucial in resolving disputes and ensuring justice is served.

As Americans head into the holiday shopping season, a time when customer hostility often peaks, these body cameras serve as a silent guardian for our retail workers.
