(AmericanProsperity.com) – Over the weekend, the campaign of presidential Democratic candidate Mike Bloomberg, a former mayor of New York City, played down the notion that Hillary Clinton is being considered as his vice-presidential running mate. Democrats also appear to be considering new investigations on President Trump, but leadership is expressing campaign concerns. Finally, Rep. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez (D-NY) is rallying her base and calling for a massive turnout to protect herself from the 12 Democrats who have filed to run against her in the primary election.

Bloomberg Campaign Downplays Consideration of Hillary Clinton as VP Running Mate

On Saturday, Bloomberg’s campaign downplayed a Drudge Report headline that the campaign is considering former First Lady, Senator and Secretary of State Hillary Clinton as his vice-presidential running mate. While they quickly downplayed the report, they also didn’t deny it.

According to sources obtained by the Drudge Report, internal polling found that the combination would be a “formidable force.”

Regarding Clinton, there has been widespread speculation that she would seriously consider joining a ticket as VP if it were the right opportunity.

While Bloomberg is gaining in some polls, he’s also having some issues after audio surfaced last week of him defending his policy of “stop and frisk” in minority neighborhoods. Bloomberg can be audibly heard making insulting and racist statements, saying all the crime is by young African-American men.

In another statement Monday morning, Bloomberg is heard making insulting statements about farmers in 2016. Bloomberg said that he could teach “anybody” to be a farmer.

Dems Consider More Investigations

Just weeks after the Senate acquitted President Trump, Democrats are considering new investigations. The latest attempt by Democrats to go after Trump is to determine whether he influenced the Justice Department’s sentencing recommendation for Republican strategist Roger Stone.

While some Democrats are eager to go after Trump again, party leaders want to focus on issues important to voters. With less than 9 months to go before the November general election, they have done little on healthcare and drug prices — core campaign promises made in 2018.

Wary of another long fight that could alienate voters in November, House Speaker Nancy Pelosi (D-CA) echoed her accusation in the impeachment trial that Trump was abusing his power. However, she also said that the House would not waste time going after “every lie that the administration henchmen make.”

AOC Calls for Primary Election Turnout Machine

In 2018, AOC shocked the political world when she beat Democratic incumbent Rep. Joe Crowley. At the time, Crowley was the powerful number three Democrat in the House and was being considered for Speaker.

The freshman incumbent knows she can be primaried and will need supporters to vote in force.

In her re-election announcement, AOC said she’ll need turnout to increase by four times the number from 2018 and will need a turnout machine to do it.

“We want to secure 60,000 votes in the primary election.”

AOC has 12 other candidates vying for her seat in the primary. She will be difficult to beat. According to SEC filings, the social media and mainstream media darling had $5.3 million on hand at the end of 2019.

However, she has made many Democrats deeply upset over her open hostility to the establishment wing of the party. If more moderate to left candidates can coalesce around one, it could be a very interesting primary election in June.
