(AmericanProsperity.com) – The popularity of politicians largely depends on their policies and whether or not they’re pleasing their base. While the most popular senator in the upper chamber of Congress was a Republican, so was the least popular. Senator Mitch McConnell (R-KY) has finally found himself at the top of a prominent list. Too bad it’s the one depicting the least-liked senators in the US.

A new poll from Morning Consult set out to determine the most popular US senators and their opposites. According to the poll, Senator John Barrasso (R-WY) was the most popular accepted among his peers. He has an approval rating of 66%, with only 25% of voters viewing him in a negative light. At the other end of the spectrum is McConnell, who has a dismal approval rating of only 29%, with 64% of voters feeling unfavorably about the Kentucky Republican.
McConnell has found himself in a tough spot, often being criticized by both Democrats and his own party. The Senate Minority Leader isn’t used to being on the receiving end of harsh ratings, having previously enjoyed being the Senate’s top Republican since 2006. The Minority Leader’s approval has taken a significant hit since he’s found himself in former President Donald Trump’s sights.
McConnell most recently faced criticism from the 45th President for his passage of a massive omnibus bill. Trump took to his social media platform, Truth Social, to air out some of his frustration with his former ally. The former president asserted the GOP needs to stop the Kentucky Republican, explaining how McConnell has been pushing whatever Democrats want.
Trump mentioned the recent $1.7 trillion bill the upper chamber of Congress recently passed, describing it as “horrible.” The former president declared that voters needed to boot out McConnell and the Republicans who vote for him in the next primary election, claiming there’s something wrong with them.
