Whoopi Goldberg Apologizes After Anti-Jewish Comments

(AmericanProsperity.com) – Actress and co-host of ABC’s daytime talk show “The View” received immense backlash from the public for making what many observers considered insensitive comments. The host claimed the Holocaust’s extermination of Jews had nothing to do with race.

On Monday’s episode of “The View,” Goldberg suggested that the Holocaust was not about race but about how humans are inhumane toward each other. The initial comments began during a heated argument about “Maus,” a book the Tennessee school board recently banned.

According to reports, the Pulitzer Prize-winning book, written by comic artist Art Spiegelman, was part of an eighth-grade English and language arts curriculum. The school board banned the book for including what some members considered rough language and having nude drawings of women.

“Maus” takes place in the 1940s and follows the journey of Jewish parents who live in Poland and eventually end up in a Nazi internment camp in Auschwitz. The book has a unique twist: It portrays Nazis as cats and Jewish people as mice.

Co-host Joy Behar disagreed with Goldberg, saying that the Nazis did consider Jews to be a different and inferior race. Co-host Anna Navarro also chimed in, adding that it was indeed about white supremacy and race.

The 66-year-old Goldberg posted on social media apologizing for her remarks, expressing her “sincerest apologies.” Unfortunately for the co-host, her backpedaling wasn’t enough to stop the wave of the media and social elites from pushing back. She continued her apology by saying that she should have said it was about both race and inhumanity, adding she would never waiver again and that she supports the Jewish community.

Tuesday evening Kim Godwin, President of ABC News, stated that Goldberg would be put on a two-week suspension.
