(AmericanProsperity.com) – There have been many car recalls from many different car brands, such as Tesla, Honda, Acura, and many others that have surfaced across headlines recently.
Experts have weighed in on why we have seen so many different recalls on cars in more recent years. It comes down to the electronic components of the current new age vehicles and these electronic parts are more likely to have some sort of malfunction.
The National Highway Traffic Safety Administration data shows that there has been a 46% jump in car recalls over the period of 2012 to 2022. Over the last five years, the United States has seen 1,000 recalls per year, which averages out to be about 27 recalls per day.
Ivan Dury, an auto analyst, spoke out about the recalls saying “Vehicles have advanced to a degree we’ve never seen before. It’s such a wide swathe of issues that recalls cover that you’re going to see this more and more.”
These recalls have been surfacing over the last weeks. We’ve seen Toyota recall 1.2 million cars because of an airbag deployment issue. We also saw Tesla recall over 2 million of their cars over various issues such as warning lights and the car’s autopilot.
Tom McParland, who is the operator at Automatch Consulting, said “As you add more components to vehicles, as vehicles get more tech-heavy, you’re going to have more failure points.”
These recalls, however, are no cause for worry, according to the experts, and most of them don’t require you to stop driving the car at all. Essentially this is helping to make cars better in the future and to notice and fix issues that are arising due to newer technology making up the majority of our newer vehicles.
